☞욥31:1 내가 내 눈과 더불어 언약을 세웠는데 어찌하여 내가 소녀를 생각하랴?
I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?
☞욥31:2 위로부터 주신 하나님의 몫이 무엇이며 높은 데서 주신 전능하신 분의 유업이 무엇이겠느냐?
For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high?
☞욥31:3 그것은 악인에게 내린 멸망이 아니겠느냐? 그것은 죄악의 일꾼들에게 내린 보기 드문 형벌이 아니겠느냐?
Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?
☞욥31:4 그 분이 내 길을 보지 아니하시며 내 모든 발걸음을 세지 아니하시겠느냐?
Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?
☞욥31:5 만일 내가 허망한 것과 더불어 행하였다면, 혹은 내 발이 미혹하는데 빨랐다면,
If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;
☞욥31:6 나를 공평한 저울에 달아서 하나님께서 나의 완전함을 아시게 되기를 원하노라.
Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.
☞욥31:7 만일 내 걸음이 길에서 빗겨 가고 내 마음이 내 눈을 따라 행하고 어떤 더러운 것이 내 손에 묻었다면
If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;
☞욥31:8 내가 심되 다른 사람으로 먹게 하며, 정녕, 나의 후손이 뿌리까지 뽑힐지니라.
Then let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out.
☞욥31:9 만일 내 마음이 여자에 의하여 미혹되었다면, 만일 내가 내 이웃의 문전에서 엿보아 기다렸다면
If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or if I have laid wait at my neighbour's door;
☞욥31:10 내 아내가 다른 사람을 위하여 맷돌을 갈며 다른 사람들이 그녀에게 들어갈지니라.
Then let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her.
☞욥31:11 이는 이것이 극악한 범죄임이니, 정녕, 이것은 재판관들에게 벌받을 죄악이라.
For this is an heinous crime; yea, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges.
☞욥31:12 이는 그것이 멸망에 이르도록 사르는 불이요 나의 모든 후손을 뿌리채 뽑을 것임이라.
For it is a fire that consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase.
☞욥31:13 만일 내 남종과 여종이 나와 더불어 다투었을 때 내가 그들의 사정을 멸시한 적이 있었다면
If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;
☞욥31:14 하나님이 일어나실 때 내가 어찌하겠느냐? 그 분이 살피시려고 오실 때 내가 무엇을 대답하겠느냐?
What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?
☞욥31:15 나를 태 속에 만드신 분이 그도 만들지 아니하였겠느냐? 우리를 태 속에 지으신 이가 한 분이 아니시냐?
Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?
☞욥31:16 만일 내가 가난한 자의 원하는 일을 막았거나 과부의 눈을 실망시켰다면,
If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;
☞욥31:17 아니면 내 적은 음식이라도 나 혼자만 먹고 아비 없는 자들에게는 먹이지 아니하였다면,
Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;
☞욥31:18 (내가 어릴 때부터 그는 아비와 함께 있는 것처럼 나와 더불어 길러졌으며 또 내가 내 어미의 태에서부터 과부를 인도하였도다.)
(For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother's womb;)
☞욥31:19 만일 내가 어떤 사람이 의복이 없어서 죽은 것을 보았거나 어떤 가난한 사람이 덮을 것이 없는 것을 보았다면,
If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering;
☞욥31:20 만일 그의 허리가 나를 축복하지 아니하였다면, 만일 그가 내 양털로 따뜻하게 되지 아니하였다면,
If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;
☞욥31:21 내가 나의 도움을 성문에서 보고 아비 없는 자를 대적해서 내 손을 들어 올렸다면
If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate：
☞욥31:22 그 때에는 내 팔을 내 어깨 뼈에서 떨어뜨리고 내 팔을 뼈에서 부러뜨리라.
Then let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone.
☞욥31:23 하나님으로부터 오는 파멸이 나를 두렵게 하였으니, 그의 위엄으로 인하여 내가 견딜 수가 없도다.
For destruction from God was a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not endure.
☞욥31:24 만일 내가 금으로 내 소망을 삼거나 정금에게 말하기를 '너는 나의 믿는 바라.' 하였다면,
If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;
☞욥31:25 내가 내 재산이 많고 내 손에 많이 가졌다고 해서 즐거워하였다면,
If I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;
☞욥31:26 내가 해가 비추는 것을 보거나 달이 밝게 움직이는 것을 보고
If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness;
☞욥31:27 내 마음이 몰래 유혹되었거나 내 입이 내 손에 입맞추었다면,
And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand：
☞욥31:28 이것 역시 재판관에 의해 형벌을 받아야 할 죄악이었으니, 이는 내가 위에 계신 하나님을 부인하였을 것이기 때문이라.
This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge： for I should have denied the God that is above.
☞욥31:29 만일 내가 나를 미워한 자의 멸망에 기뻐하였거나 재앙이 그에게 닥쳤을 때 나 자신을 추켜세웠다면,
If I rejoice at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him：
☞욥31:30 나는 그의 혼이 저주받기를 바람으로써 내 입으로 범죄하지도 아니하였도다.
Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul.
☞욥31:31 만일 내 장막의 사람들이 '우리가 그의 육체를 차지한다면! 우리는 만족할 수 없도다' 라고 말하지 않았다면,
If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied.
☞욥31:32 타국인이 길거리에서 유숙하지 아니하였으니 이는 내가 행인에게 문을 열어 주었음이라.
The stranger did not lodge in the street： but I opened my doors to the traveller.
☞욥31:33 만일 내가 내 죄악을 나의 품에 숨김으로써 아담처럼 내 허물을 덮었다면,
If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom：
☞욥31:34 내가 큰 무리를 두려워하였거나 가족들의 멸시가 나를 무섭게 하여 내가 조용히 하고 문에서 나가지 아니하였던가?
Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, and went not out of the door?
☞욥31:35 누군가가 나를 듣는다면! 보라, 나의 바람은 전능하신 분께서 내게 응답하시는 것이요, 나의 대적이 책을 썼으면 하는 것이라.
Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book.
☞욥31:36 내가 반드시 그것을 내 어깨 위에 메고 왕관처럼 내게 묶으리라.
Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, and bind it as a crown to me.
☞욥31:37 내가 그에게 나의 걸음의 수를 알리고 통치자처럼 그에게 다가가리라.
I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him.
☞욥31:38 만일 내 땅이 나를 대적하여 소리를 치며 고랑들도 이같이 불평한다면,
If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain;
☞욥31:39 내가 돈 없이 거기서 나는 열매들을 먹었거나 그 주인으로 그 생명을 잃게 하였다면
If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life：
☞욥31:40 밀 대신에 엉겅퀴가, 보리 대신에 잡초가 나야하리라." 하고 욥의 말이 그치니라.
Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.
