| ☞잠4:1 | 너희 자녀들아, 아버지의 훈계를 들으며 주의를 기울여 명철을 알라. Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. | |||
| ☞잠4:2 | 내가 너희에게 선한 교리를 주노니, 나의 법을 버리지 말라. For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law. | |||
| ☞잠4:3 | 이는 나도 내 아버지의 아들이었으며 내 어머니의 목전에 유약하고 유일하게 사랑받는 아들이었음이니라. For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. | |||
| ☞잠4:4 | 그가 또 나를 가르쳐 말씀하시기를 "내 말들을 네 마음에 두고 내 계명들을 지키라. 그리하면 살리라." 하셨느니라. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words： keep my commandments, and live. | |||
| ☞잠4:5 | 지혜를 얻고 명철을 얻으라. 그것을 잊지 말며 내 입의 말들을 외면하지 말라. Get wisdom, get understanding： forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. | |||
| ☞잠4:6 | 지혜를 버리지 말라. 그리하면 그것이 너를 보호하리라. 지혜를 사랑하라. 그리하면 그것이 너를 지켜 주리라. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee： love her, and she shall keep thee. | |||
| ☞잠4:7 | 지혜는 으뜸가는 것이니 지혜를 얻으라. 또 네가 얻은 모든 것으로 명철을 얻으라. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom： and with all thy getting get understanding. | |||
| ☞잠4:8 | 지혜를 높이라. 그리하면 그것이 너를 높이리라. 네가 지혜를 품을 때 그것이 네게 존귀를 가져다 주리라. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee： she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. | |||
| ☞잠4:9 | 지혜가 네 머리에 은혜의 장식을 씌우며 영광의 면류관을 가져다 주리라. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace： a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee. | |||
| ☞잠4:10 | 오 내 아들아, 내가 말하는 것들을 듣고 받아들이라. 그리하면 네 생명의 연수가 많으리라. Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. | |||
| ☞잠4:11 | 내가 지혜의 길로 너를 가르쳤으며 내가 옳은 길들로 너를 인도하였느니라. I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. | |||
| ☞잠4:12 | 네가 다닐 때에 네 걸음이 피곤치 아니할 것이며, 네가 달려갈 때에 걸려 넘어지지 아니하리라. When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble. | |||
| ☞잠4:13 | 훈계를 굳게 붙잡아 놓치지 말며, 그것을 지키라. 이는 그것이 네 생명임이라. Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go： keep her; for she is thy life. | |||
| ☞잠4:14 | 악인의 길에 들어서지 말며 악한 자들의 길로 다니지 말라. Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. | |||
| ☞잠4:15 | 그 길을 피하고 그 길로 지나가지 말며 거기서 돌이켜 떠나라. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. | |||
| ☞잠4:16 | 그들은 악을 행하지 아니하면 잠을 이루지 못하며, 사람을 넘어뜨리지 아니하면 잠들지 못하고 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. | |||
| ☞잠4:17 | 악의 빵을 먹으며 폭력의 술을 마시느니라. For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. | |||
| ☞잠4:18 | 그러나 의인의 길은 빛나는 빛같이 점점 더 빛나 완전한 날에 이르거니와 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. | |||
| ☞잠4:19 | 악인의 길은 암흑과 같아서 사람이 무엇에 걸려 넘어지는지도 알지 못하느니라. The way of the wicked is as darkness： they know not at what they stumble. | |||
| ☞잠4:20 | 내 아들아, 내 말들을 경청하고 내가 말하는 것들에 귀를 기울이라. My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. | |||
| ☞잠4:21 | 그것들을 네 눈에서 떠나지 않게 하고, 네 마음 속에 간직하라. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. | |||
| ☞잠4:22 | 이는 그것들이 그것들을 발견하는 자들에게 생명이 되며 그들의 온 육체에 건강이 됨이라. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. | |||
| ☞잠4:23 | 열심을 다하여 네 마음을 지키라. 이는 삶의 문제들이 거기서 나옴이라. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. | |||
| ☞잠4:24 | 완고한 입을 네게서 제거하고, 사악한 입술을 네게서 멀리하라. Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. | |||
| ☞잠4:25 | 네 눈으로 바로 보게 하며, 네 눈꺼풀로 네 앞을 곧게 보게 하라. Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. | |||
| ☞잠4:26 | 네 발이 가는 길을 잘 살펴 네 모든 길을 굳게 세우라. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. | |||
| ☞잠4:27 | 우로나 좌로나 돌이키지 말고 네 발을 악에서 떠나게 하라. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left： remove thy foot from evil. | |||
