☞잠27:1 너는 내일을 자랑하지 말라. 하루 동안에 무슨 일이 일어날는지 네가 알 수 없음이라.
Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
☞잠27:2 다른 사람으로 너를 칭찬하게 하고 네 입으로는 하지 말며, 타인으로 하게 하고 네 자신의 입술로는 하지 말라.
Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
☞잠27:3 돌은 무겁고 모래도 무게가 있으나 어리석은 자의 진노는 이 둘보다 더 무거우니라.
A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both.
☞잠27:4 진노는 잔인하고 성냄은 사나우나, 시기 앞에 누가 설 수 있으리요?
Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
☞잠27:5 드러나게 꾸짖는 것은 감추인 사랑보다 나으니라.
Open rebuke is better than secret love.
☞잠27:6 친구가 주는 상처는 신실한 것이나, 원수의 입맞춤은 속이는 것이니라.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
☞잠27:7 배부른 혼은 벌집이라도 싫어하나, 굶주린 혼에게는 쓴 것이라도 다니라.
The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
☞잠27:8 자기 집을 떠나 유랑하는 자는 보금자리를 떠나 떠도는 새와 같으니라.
As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.
☞잠27:9 기름과 향수는 마음을 즐겁게 하며, 친구의 간절한 충고의 달콤함도 그러하니라.
Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart： so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
☞잠27:10 네 친구와 네 아버지의 친구를 버리지 말며, 재난의 날에 형제의 집으로 들어가지 말라. 가까운 이웃이 먼 형제보다 나으니라.
Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity： for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
☞잠27:11 내 아들아, 현명하라. 그리고 내 마음을 기쁘게 하라. 그리하면 나를 비방하는 자에게 내가 대답할 수 있으리라.
My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
☞잠27:12 총명한 사람은 악을 미리 보고 자신을 숨기나, 우매한 자는 계속 가다가 벌을 받느니라.
A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
☞잠27:13 타국인을 위한 보증으로는 그의 옷을 취하고, 타국 여인을 위한 담보로는 그를 취할지니라.
Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
☞잠27:14 이른 아침에 일어나 큰 소리로 친구를 축복하는 자는 그것이 저주로 여겨지리라.
He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
☞잠27:15 비가 많이 내리는 날 계속 떨어지는 빗방울과 다투기 좋아하는 여자는 서로 같으니라.
A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
☞잠27:16 그녀를 감추어 주는 자는 바람을 감추는 것이며 오른손에서 새어 나오는 기름을 감추는 것이라.
Whosoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, which bewrayeth itself.
☞잠27:17 철이 철을 날카롭게 하듯이 사람이 자기 친구의 얼굴을 빛나게 하느니라.
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
☞잠27:18 무화과나무를 지키는 자마다 그 열매를 먹고, 자기 주인을 기다리는 자는 영예를 얻느니라.
Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof： so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
☞잠27:19 물에서 얼굴과 얼굴이 서로 비치듯이 사람의 마음도 사람에게 그러하니라.
As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.
☞잠27:20 지옥과 멸망은 결코 가득 차지 않으며, 사람의 눈도 결코 만족함이 없느니라.
Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
☞잠27:21 도가니가 은을, 용광로가 금을 연단하듯이, 사람은 칭찬으로 연단되느니라.
As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.
☞잠27:22 네가 어리석은 자를 곡식과 함께 절구에 넣고 공이로 찧을지라도 그의 어리석음은 그에게서 떠나지 아니하리라.
Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
☞잠27:23 너는 네 양떼의 상태를 부지런히 알며 네 소떼를 잘 돌아보라.
Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
☞잠27:24 재물이 영원토록 있지 못하니, 왕관이 대대로 이어지겠느냐?
For riches are not for ever： and doth the crown endure to every generation?
☞잠27:25 풀이 나오고 부드러운 싹이 돋으며 산의 채소들을 모으느니라.
The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
☞잠27:26 어린 양이 네 옷이 되며, 염소는 밭값이 되고
The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field.
☞잠27:27 염소의 젖은 넉넉하여 네 음식과 네 가족들의 음식이 될 것이요, 네 여종의 생계가 되리라.
And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens.
