| ☞잠18:1 | 욕망으로 말미암아 스스로 분리된 사람은 모든 지혜를 찾아 혼잡케 하느니라. Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom. | |||
| ☞잠18:2 | 어리석은 자는 명철을 기뻐하지 아니하고 자기 마음을 드러내기만 하느니라. A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. | |||
| ☞잠18:3 | 악한 자가 오면 멸시도 오고, 수치와 함께 질책도 오느니라. When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach. | |||
| ☞잠18:4 | 사람의 입의 말은 깊은 물들과 같고, 지혜의 샘은 흐르는 시냇물과 같으니라. The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook. | |||
| ☞잠18:5 | 악한 사람을 용납하는 것과 재판에서 의인을 패소시키는 것은 선하지 아니하니라. It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment. | |||
| ☞잠18:6 | 어리석은 자의 입술은 다툼을 일으키고 그의 입은 매를 불러들이느니라. A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes. | |||
| ☞잠18:7 | 어리석은 자의 입은 그의 멸망이요, 그의 입술은 그의 혼의 덫이니라. A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul. | |||
| ☞잠18:8 | 남의 말하기 좋아하는 자의 말은 맛있는 음식과 같아서 뱃속 깊은 곳으로 내려가느니라. The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly. | |||
| ☞잠18:9 | 자기 일에 게으른 자는 또한 크게 낭비하는 자의 형제니라. He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster. | |||
| ☞잠18:10 | 주의 이름은 견고한 망대라, 의로운 자는 그 안으로 달려가서 안전함을 얻느니라. The name of the LORD is a strong tower： the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. | |||
| ☞잠18:11 | 부자의 재물은 그의 견고한 성읍이며 자기 생각에 높은 성벽 같으니라. The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit. | |||
| ☞잠18:12 | 사람의 마음은 멸망에 앞서 교만해지고, 존귀에 앞서 겸손이 있느니라. Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility. | |||
| ☞잠18:13 | 일을 듣기도 전에 대답하는 자는 미련하여 수치를 당하느니라. He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him. | |||
| ☞잠18:14 | 사람의 영은 그의 병을 지탱할 것이나, 상처받은 영을 누가 견딜 수 있으랴? The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear? | |||
| ☞잠18:15 | 총명한 자의 마음은 지식을 얻고, 현명한 자의 귀는 지식을 찾느니라. The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge. | |||
| ☞잠18:16 | 사람의 선물은 그에게 기회를 마련해 주며, 또 위대한 사람들 앞으로 그를 인도하느니라. A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men. | |||
| ☞잠18:17 | 소송의 사유를 먼저 개진한 자가 옳은 것같이 보이나 그의 이웃이 와서 그를 찾아내느니라. He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him. | |||
| ☞잠18:18 | 제비를 뽑는 것은 다툼을 그치게 하며 힘있는 자들 사이를 나누느니라. The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty. | |||
| ☞잠18:19 | 성난 형제는 견고한 성읍보다 정복하기가 더 어려우니, 그들의 다툼은 성곽의 문 빗장 같으니라. A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city： and their contentions are like the bars of a castle. | |||
| ☞잠18:20 | 사람의 배는 자기 입의 열매로 부르게 될 것이며 입술에서 나는 것으로 채워지리라. A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. | |||
| ☞잠18:21 | 죽는 것과 사는 것이 혀의 권세에 있나니, 혀를 사랑하는 자는 그 열매를 먹으리라. Death and life are in the power of the tongue： and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. | |||
| ☞잠18:22 | 아내를 얻는 자는 좋은 것을 얻는 것이요 주의 은총을 받는 것이니라. Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD. | |||
| ☞잠18:23 | 가난한 자는 간절한 말을 써도 부자는 거친 말로 대답하느니라. The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly. | |||
| ☞잠18:24 | 여러 친구를 가진 사람은 친절하게 보여야 하나니, 형제보다 더 가까운 친구도 있느니라. A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly： and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. | |||
