☞잠31:1 르무엘왕의 말씀들, 곧 그의 어머니가 그에게 가르친 예언이라.
The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
☞잠31:2 내 아들아, 내가 무엇을 말할까? 내 태에서 난 아들아, 내가 무엇을 말할까? 내 서원으로 얻은 아들아, 내가 무엇을 말할까?
What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
☞잠31:3 네 힘을 여자들에게 주지 말며, 네 행동을 왕들을 멸망시키는 데 쓰지 말라.
Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
☞잠31:4 오 르무엘아, 그것은 왕이 해야 할 것이 아니니라. 술을 마시는 것은 왕이 해야 할 것이 아니며, 독주를 마시는 것은 통치자들이 해야 할 것이 아니니,
It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink：
☞잠31:5 이는 그들이 술을 마시고 법을 잊어버려 고난받는 어떤 사람들의 심판을 왜곡할까 함이니라.
Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
☞잠31:6 독주는 죽게 된 자에게 주고, 술은 마음에 근심하는 자에게 줄지어다.
Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
☞잠31:7 그가 마시고 자기의 빈곤함을 잊으며 자기의 가련함을 더이상 기억하지 아니하리라.
Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
☞잠31:8 너는 벙어리들과, 파멸되기로 정해진 모든 자들을 위하여 소송에서 네 입을 열라.
Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
☞잠31:9 네 입을 열어 바르게 재판하고, 가난한 자와 궁핍한 자를 위하여 변호하라.
Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
☞잠31:10 누가 현숙한 여인을 찾아낼 수 있겠느냐? 그녀는 루비보다 훨씬 가치 있느니라.
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
☞잠31:11 그녀의 남편의 마음은 그녀를 편안히 신뢰하나니, 그가 탈취할 필요가 없으리라.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
☞잠31:12 그녀가 평생 동안 그에게 선한 일만 행하고 악을 행치 아니하리라.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
☞잠31:13 그녀는 자진하여 양모와 아마를 찾아 손수 일하며
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
☞잠31:14 상인의 배와 같아서 먼 데서 양식을 가져오고
She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
☞잠31:15 밤이 새기도 전에 일어나 가족들에게 음식을 주며 여종들에게 몫을 주느니라.
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
☞잠31:16 그녀는 숙고하여 밭을 사며, 그녀의 손의 열매로 포도원을 심고
She considereth a field, and buyeth it： with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
☞잠31:17 허리를 힘껏 동이며 팔을 튼튼하게 하느니라.
She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
☞잠31:18 그녀는 자기의 장사가 잘 되는 줄을 예견하여 밤에도 촛불을 끄지 않고
She perceiveth that her merchandise is good： her candle goeth not out by night.
☞잠31:19 손에 솜뭉치를 들며, 손으로 물레의 가락을 잡느니라.
She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
☞잠31:20 그녀는 가난한 자들에게 손을 펴나니, 정녕, 빈궁한 자들에게 손을 내미느니라.
She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
☞잠31:21 눈이 와도 그녀가 식구들을 위하여 염려하지 아니할 것은 그녀의 모든 식구들이 주홍색 옷을 입었음이라.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household： for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
☞잠31:22 그녀는 스스로 수놓은 직물로 덮개를 만들며, 자주색 비단옷을 입고,
She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
☞잠31:23 그녀의 남편은 그 땅의 장로들 사이에 앉을 때, 성문 안에서 알려진 사람이 되고,
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
☞잠31:24 그녀는 세마포로 옷을 지어 팔며, 장식띠를 상인들에게 넘겨 주느니라.
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
☞잠31:25 능력과 존귀가 그녀의 옷이 되나니, 그녀가 다가올 때에 기뻐하리라.
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
☞잠31:26 그녀는 지혜롭게 입을 열며, 그녀의 혀에는 친절의 법이 있느니라.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
☞잠31:27 그녀는 자기 식구들의 일들을 잘 살피며, 게으른 빵을 먹지 않느니라.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
☞잠31:28 자식들은 일어나 그녀를 축복하며, 남편도 그녀를 칭찬하기를
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
☞잠31:29 "많은 딸들이 덕을 행하였으나, 당신은 그들 모두보다 뛰어나도다." 하느니라.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
☞잠31:30 호의도 거짓되고 아름다움도 헛되나, 주를 두려워하는 여인은 칭찬을 받으리라.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain： but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
☞잠31:31 그녀의 손의 열매에서 나는 것을 그녀에게 주고, 그녀 자신의 일들이 성문 안에서 그녀를 칭찬하게 하라.
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
