| ☞잠20:1 | 술은 거만하게 하는 것이요, 독주는 떠들게 하는 것이라. 이에 속는 자마다 지혜롭지 못하니라. Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging： and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. | |||
| ☞잠20:2 | 왕의 진노는 사자의 포효와 같으니, 누구라도 그를 노하게 하는 것은 자기 자신의 생명을 거슬러 죄짓는 것이니라. The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion： whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul. | |||
| ☞잠20:3 | 다툼을 그치게 하는 것이 사람에게 영예이나, 어리석은 자는 누구나 쓸데없이 참견하느니라. It is an honour for a man to cease from strife： but every fool will be meddling. | |||
| ☞잠20:4 | 게으른 자는 춥다고 밭을 갈지 아니하리니, 그리하여 추수 때에 그가 구걸하겠으나 아무것도 얻지 못하리라. The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing. | |||
| ☞잠20:5 | 사람의 마음 속에 계획하는 것이 깊은 물 같으나, 명철한 사람은 그것을 길어 내느니라. Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out. | |||
| ☞잠20:6 | 많은 사람들은 각기 자신의 선함을 선언하나, 누가 신실한 사람을 만날 수 있으리요? Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness： but a faithful man who can find? | |||
| ☞잠20:7 | 의로운 사람은 자기의 성실함으로 행하고, 그의 후손들은 그로 인하여 복을 받느니라. The just man walketh in his integrity： his children are blessed after him. | |||
| ☞잠20:8 | 심판의 보좌에 앉은 왕은 그의 눈으로 모든 악을 흩어버리느니라. A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes. | |||
| ☞잠20:9 | "나는 내 마음을 깨끗하게 하였도다. 나는 내 죄에서 정결케 되었도다."라고 말할 수 있는 자가 누구냐? Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? | |||
| ☞잠20:10 | 상이한 저울추와 상이한 되는 둘 다 주께서 가증히 여기시느니라. Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD. | |||
| ☞잠20:11 | 아이라 할지라도 그의 행동으로 알 수 있나니, 그 행위가 순수한지, 또 그것이 옳은지 알 수 있느니라. Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right. | |||
| ☞잠20:12 | 듣는 귀와 보는 눈까지도 모두 주께서 지으셨느니라. The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them. | |||
| ☞잠20:13 | 잠자기를 좋아하지 말라. 네가 빈궁하게 될까 함이라. 네 눈을 뜨라. 그리하면 네가 양식으로 배부르리라. Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread. | |||
| ☞잠20:14 | 물건을 사는 자가 "좋지 않다. 좋지 않다." 하여도 그가 자기 길을 가고 나면 자랑하느니라. It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer： but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth. | |||
| ☞잠20:15 | 금도 있고 루비도 많으나, 지식의 입술은 진귀한 보석이니라. There is gold, and a multitude of rubies： but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel. | |||
| ☞잠20:16 | 타국인을 위한 보증으로는 그의 옷을 취하고, 타국 여인을 위한 담보로는 그를 취할지니라. Take his garment that is surety for a stranger： and take a pledge of him for a strange woman. | |||
| ☞잠20:17 | 속이고 취한 음식이 사람에게 달콤하나, 후에 그 입은 자갈로 가득 차리라. Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel. | |||
| ☞잠20:18 | 모든 목적마다 의논으로 성취되나니, 훌륭한 조언으로 전쟁할지니라. Every purpose is established by counsel： and with good advice make war. | |||
| ☞잠20:19 | 소문을 퍼뜨리는 자처럼 돌아다니는 자는 비밀을 누설하느니라. 그러므로 입술로 아첨 떠는 자와는 사귀지 말라. He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets： therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips. | |||
| ☞잠20:20 | 누구든지 자기 아버지나 자기 어머니를 저주하는 자의 등불은 깊은 흑암 중에 꺼지리라. Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness. | |||
| ☞잠20:21 | 어떤 유업은 처음에는 급히 받을 수 있으나, 그 끝은 복되지 못하리라. An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed. | |||
| ☞잠20:22 | 너는 "내가 악을 갚으리라."고 말하지 말고 주를 기다리라. 그리하면 그가 너를 구원하시리라. Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee. | |||
| ☞잠20:23 | 상이한 저울추는 주께 가증한 것이며, 속이는 저울은 좋지 못한 것이니라. Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good. | |||
| ☞잠20:24 | 사람의 걸음은 주께로부터 비롯되나니, 사람이 어찌 자기의 길을 알 수 있으랴? Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way? | |||
| ☞잠20:25 | 거룩한 것을 삼키고, 서원한 후에 살피는 자에게는 그것이 덫이니라. It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry. | |||
| ☞잠20:26 | 현명한 왕은 악인들을 흩으며 그들 위에 바퀴를 굴리느니라. A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them. | |||
| ☞잠20:27 | 사람의 영은 주의 촛불이라. 뱃속에 있는 모든 깊은 부분을 살피느니라. The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly. | |||
| ☞잠20:28 | 자비와 진리가 왕을 보호하며, 그의 보좌도 자비로 받들어지느니라. Mercy and truth preserve the king： and his throne is upholden by mercy. | |||
| ☞잠20:29 | 청년들의 영광은 그들의 힘이요, 노인들의 아름다움은 백발이니라. The glory of young men is their strength： and the beauty of old men is the grey head. | |||
| ☞잠20:30 | 상처나게 때리는 것이 악을 지워 버리나니, 매는 뱃속에 있는 깊은 부분들을 그렇게 하느니라. The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil： so do stripes the inward parts of the belly. | |||
