☞잠29:1 자주 책망을 받으면서도 목이 곧은 자는 갑자기 패망을 당하리니, 도움이 없으리라.
He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
☞잠29:2 의인이 권세를 잡으면 백성이 즐거워하나, 악인이 지배하면 백성이 탄식하느니라.
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice： but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
☞잠29:3 지혜를 사랑하는 자마다 그의 아버지를 즐겁게 하나, 창녀들과 사귀는 자는 재산을 탕진하느니라.
Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father： but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.
☞잠29:4 왕은 공의로 그 땅을 굳게 세우나, 뇌물들을 받는 자는 그 땅을 무너지게 하느니라.
The king by judgment establisheth the land： but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.
☞잠29:5 자기 이웃에게 아첨하는 자는 자기 발 앞에다 그물을 치는 것이니라.
A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.
☞잠29:6 악한 사람의 죄과에는 덫이 있으나, 의로운 자는 노래하고 기뻐하느니라.
In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare： but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
☞잠29:7 의로운 자는 가난한 자의 사정을 고려하나, 악인은 그것을 알려고 하지 아니하느니라.
The righteous considereth the cause of the poor： but the wicked regardeth not to know it.
☞잠29:8 조롱하는 사람들은 성읍을 덫에 걸리게 하나, 현명한 사람들은 진노에서 떠나느니라.
Scornful men bring a city into a snare： but wise men turn away wrath.
☞잠29:9 현명한 사람이 어리석은 사람과 다투면, 그가 성내든지 웃든지 그 다툼에는 쉼이 없느니라.
If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.
☞잠29:10 피에 목마른 자는 강직한 자를 미워하나, 의인은 그의 혼을 찾느니라.
The bloodthirsty hate the upright： but the just seek his soul.
☞잠29:11 어리석은 자는 자기의 모든 생각을 드러내나, 현명한 사람은 그것을 끝까지 간직하느니라.
A fool uttereth all his mind： but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
☞잠29:12 치리자가 거짓말에 경청하면 그의 모든 종들은 악해지느니라.
If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.
☞잠29:13 가난한 자와 포악한 자가 함께 모여 있거니와, 주께서는 그들 눈에 모두 빛을 비추시느니라.
The poor and the deceitful man meet together： the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.
☞잠29:14 왕이 가난한 사람을 신실하게 판결하면 그의 보좌는 영원히 견고하게 되리라.
The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
☞잠29:15 매와 책망은 지혜를 얻게 하나, 혼자 버려진 아이는 그 어미를 욕되게 하느니라.
The rod and reproof give wisdom： but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
☞잠29:16 악인이 많아지면 죄과도 늘어나나, 의로운 자는 그들의 멸망을 보리라.
When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth： but the righteous shall see their fall.
☞잠29:17 네 아들을 바로잡으라. 그리하면 그가 너를 평안하게 하리니, 정녕, 그가 네 마음에 기쁨을 주리라.
Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
☞잠29:18 환상이 없는 곳에서는 백성이 망하나, 율법을 지키는 자는 행복하니라.
Where there is no vision, the people perish： but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
☞잠29:19 종은 말로써 고쳐지지 않을 것이니, 이는 그가 알면서도 대답하지 않을 것임이라.
A servant will not be corrected by words： for though he understand he will not answer.
☞잠29:20 네가 성급히 말하는 자를 보느냐? 그 사람보다는 어리석은 자에게 오히려 희망이 있느니라.
Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
☞잠29:21 자기 종을 어릴 때부터 자상하게 양육하는 자는 나중에 그를 자기 아들로 삼으리라.
He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.
☞잠29:22 성내는 사람은 다툼을 일으키고, 격노하는 사람은 죄과가 많으니라.
An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
☞잠29:23 사람의 교만은 그를 낮아지게 할 것이나, 영 안에서 겸손하면 명예를 얻으리라.
A man's pride shall bring him low： but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
☞잠29:24 도둑과 짝하는 자마다 자기 자신의 혼을 미워하나니, 그는 저주하는 것을 들어도 폭로하지 아니하느니라.
Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul： he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.
☞잠29:25 사람을 두려워하면 덫에 걸리나, 주를 신뢰하는 자는 누구나 안전하리라.
The fear of man bringeth a snare： but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
☞잠29:26 많은 사람이 치리자의 은총을 구하나, 모든 사람을 판단함이 주께로부터 오느니라.
Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.
☞잠29:27 불의한 사람은 의인에게 가증함이고, 정직하게 행하는 자는 악인에게 가증함이니라.
An unjust man is an abomination to the just： and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
