| ☞잠13:1 | 현명한 아들은 자기 아버지의 훈계를 들으나, 거만한 자는 질책을 듣지 않느니라. A wise son heareth his father's instruction： but a scorner heareth not rebuke. | |||
| ☞잠13:2 | 사람이 입의 열매로 좋은 것을 먹겠으나, 범죄자들의 혼은 폭력을 먹으리라. A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth： but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence. | |||
| ☞잠13:3 | 자기의 입을 지키는 자는 자기 생명을 지키나, 입술을 크게 벌리는 자는 멸망을 당하리라. He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life： but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. | |||
| ☞잠13:4 | 게으른 자의 혼은 소망하여도 아무것도 얻지 못하나, 부지런한 자의 혼은 살찌리라. The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing： but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat. | |||
| ☞잠13:5 | 의로운 사람은 거짓말하기를 싫어하나, 악한 사람은 가증스러우며 수치에 이르느니라. A righteous man hateth lying： but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame. | |||
| ☞잠13:6 | 의는 행실이 정직한 자를 지켜 주나, 악은 죄인을 패망케 하느니라. Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way： but wickedness overthroweth the sinner. | |||
| ☞잠13:7 | 부한 체하나 아무것도 가진 것이 없는 자가 있고, 가난한 체하나 큰 재물을 가진 자가 있느니라. There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing： there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches. | |||
| ☞잠13:8 | 사람의 생명의 속전은 그의 재물이나, 가난한 자는 책망을 듣지 아니하느니라. The ransom of a man's life are his riches： but the poor heareth not rebuke. | |||
| ☞잠13:9 | 의로운 자의 빛은 즐거우나, 악인의 등불은 꺼지리라. The light of the righteous rejoiceth： but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. | |||
| ☞잠13:10 | 다툼은 교만으로만 오나, 권면을 잘 받아들이는 자에게는 지혜가 있느니라. Only by pride cometh contention： but with the well advised is wisdom. | |||
| ☞잠13:11 | 허망하게 얻은 재물은 줄어들 것이나, 수고하여 모은 자는 늘려갈 것이라. Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished： but he that gathereth by labour shall increase. | |||
| ☞잠13:12 | 소망이 늦춰지면 마음을 상하게 하거니와, 소망이 이루어지면 그것은 생명의 나무니라. Hope deferred maketh the heart sick： but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. | |||
| ☞잠13:13 | 말씀을 멸시하는 자는 누구라도 멸망할 것이나, 계명을 두려워하는 자는 보상을 받으리라. Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed： but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded. | |||
| ☞잠13:14 | 현명한 자의 법은 생명의 샘이라, 사망의 덫에서 벗어나게 하느니라. The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. | |||
| ☞잠13:15 | 선한 명철은 은총을 주나, 범죄자들의 길은 험난하니라. Good understanding giveth favour： but the way of transgressors is hard. | |||
| ☞잠13:16 | 총명한 모든 사람은 지식을 다루나, 어리석은 자는 자기의 미련함을 드러내느니라. Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge： but a fool layeth open his folly. | |||
| ☞잠13:17 | 악한 사자는 재앙에 빠져도, 신실한 대사는 병을 낫게 하느니라. A wicked messenger falleth into mischief： but a faithful ambassador is health. | |||
| ☞잠13:18 | 훈계를 거절하는 자에게는 궁핍과 수치가 임할 것이나, 책망을 존중하는 자는 존경을 받으리라. Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction： but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured. | |||
| ☞잠13:19 | 소망이 성취되면 혼에 달지만 어리석은 자들은 악에서 떠나기를 싫어하느니라. The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul： but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil. | |||
| ☞잠13:20 | 현명한 사람과 동행하는 자는 지혜롭게 될 것이나, 어리석은 자들의 친구는 멸망하리라. He that walketh with wise men shall be wise： but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. | |||
| ☞잠13:21 | 죄인들에게는 재앙이 따르나, 의로운 자는 좋은 것으로 보상을 받으리라. Evil pursueth sinners： but to the righteous good shall be repayed. | |||
| ☞잠13:22 | 선한 사람은 자자손손에게 유업을 남겨도, 죄인의 재산은 의인을 위하여 쌓이느니라. A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children： and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. | |||
| ☞잠13:23 | 가난한 자의 경작지에는 많은 양식이 있으나, 공의가 부족하므로 멸망하는 것도 있느니라. Much food is in the tillage of the poor： but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment. | |||
| ☞잠13:24 | 매를 들지 않는 자는 자기 자식을 미워하는 것이나, 자식을 사랑하는 자는 알맞은 때에 징계하느니라. He that spareth his rod hateth his son： but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. | |||
| ☞잠13:25 | 의로운 자는 혼이 만족하도록 먹으나, 악인의 배는 굶주리리라. The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul： but the belly of the wicked shall want. | |||
