☞요1:1 태초에 말씀이 계셨고, 그 말씀이 하나님과 함께 계셨으니, 그 말씀은 하나님이셨느니라.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
☞요1:2 그 말씀이 태초에 하나님과 함께 계셨느니라.
The same was in the beginning with God.
☞요1:3 만물은 그에 의하여 지은 바 되었으며, 이미 지음받은 것 가운데 그가 없이 지어진 것은 아무것도 없더라.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
☞요1:4 그 분 안에 생명이 있었으니 그 생명은 사람들의 빛이라.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
☞요1:5 그 빛이 어두움 속에 비치어도 어두움은 그것을 깨닫지 못하더라.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
☞요1:6 하나님께로부터 보내심을 받은 사람이 있었으니 그의 이름은 요한이라.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
☞요1:7 그가 증인으로 왔으니 빛에 관하여 증거하려 함이며, 모든 사람이 그를 통하여 믿게 하려 함이더라.
The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
☞요1:8 그 사람은 그 빛이 아니었고 그 빛에 관하여 증거하라고 보내심을 받았더라.
He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
☞요1:9 세상으로 들어오는 모든 사람에게 비치는 참 빛이 있었으니
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
☞요1:10 그가 세상에 계셨고 세상이 그에 의하여 지은 바 되었으나 세상은 그를 알지 못하더라.
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
☞요1:11 그가 자기 백성에게 오셨으나 자기 백성이 그를 영접하지 아니하더라.
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
☞요1:12 그러나 누구든지 그를 영접한 사람들에게는 하나님의 아들들이 되는 권세를 주셨으니, 즉 그의 이름을 믿는 사람들에게니라.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name：
☞요1:13 그들은 혈로나 육신의 뜻으로나 또한 사람의 뜻으로 나지 아니하였고 하나님에게서 난 사람들이라.
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
☞요1:14 그 말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시므로 (우리가 그의 영광을 보니, 아버지의 독생자의 영광으로) 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
☞요1:15 요한이 그에 관하여 증거하며 외쳐 말하기를 "이 분이 내가 말한 그 분이라. 내 뒤에 오시는 그가 나보다 앞선 것은 그 분이 나보다 먼저 계셨음이라."고 하니라.
John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me： for he was before me.
☞요1:16 우리 모두가 그의 충만한 데서 받았으니 은혜 위에 은혜니라.
And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
☞요1:17 율법은 모세를 통하여 받았지만 은혜와 진리는 예수 그리스도를 통하여 온 것이라.
For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
☞요1:18 아무도 어느 때나 하나님을 본 사람이 없지만 아버지의 품 안에 계신 독생자뿐이라. 그가 하나님을 분명히 밝히셨느니라.
No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
☞요1:19 또 이것이 요한의 증거라. 유대인들이 예루살렘에서 제사장들과 레위인들을 보내어 그에게 묻기를 "네가 누구냐?"고 하였더니
And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
☞요1:20 요한이 시인하고 부인하지 아니하였으니, 시인하기를 "나는 그리스도가 아니라."하더라.
And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.
☞요1:21 그들이 묻기를 "그러면 네가 무엇이냐, 네가 엘리야냐?"고 하니 그가 말하기를 "나는 아니라."고 하자 그러면 "네가 그 선지자냐?"고 하니 그가 대답하기를 "아니라."고 하더라.
And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
☞요1:22 그러므로 그들이 그에게 말하기를 "네가 누구냐? 우리로 우리를 보낸 자들에게 가서 답변하게 하라. 너는 네 자신을 무엇이라고 하느냐?"고 하니
Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
☞요1:23 그가 말하기를 "나는 선지자 이사야가 말한 것처럼 '주의 길을 곧게 하라.'고 광야에서 외치는 자의 음성이라."고 하더라.
He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.
☞요1:24 보냄을 받은 자들은 바리새인들로부터 왔더라.
And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.
☞요1:25 그들이 그에게 묻고 말하기를 "네가 그 그리스도도 아니요, 엘리야도 아니요, 그 선지자도 아니라면 어찌하여 네가 침례를 주느냐?"고 하니
And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?
☞요1:26 요한이 그들에게 대답하여 말하기를 "나는 물로 침례를 주지만 너희가 알지 못하는 한 분이 너희 가운데 서 계시는데
John answered them, saying, I baptize with water： but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
☞요1:27 내 뒤에 오시는 그 분은 나보다 앞선 분이며 나는 그 분의 신발끈을 풀 자격도 없느니라."고 하더라.
He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.
☞요1:28 이런 일들이 요단강 건너편 베다바라에서 있었으니 그 곳은 요한이 침례를 주던 곳이라.
These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
☞요1:29 그 다음날 요한이 예수께서 자기에게 오시는 것을 보고 말하기를 "보라, 세상 죄를 제거하는 하나님의 어린 양이라.
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
☞요1:30 이 분이 내가 전에 말하기를 "내 뒤에 오시는 분이 나보다 앞선 것은 그 분이 나보다 먼저 계셨음이라."고 했던 그분이라.
This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me： for he was before me.
☞요1:31 나는 그 분을 알지 못하였지만 그 분을 이스라엘에게 알리려고 내가 물로 침례를 주러 왔노라."고 하더라.
And I knew him not： but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
☞요1:32 또 요한이 증거하여 말하기를 "나는 성령께서 하늘로부터 비둘기같이 내려와 그 분 위에 머무시는 것을 보았노라.
And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
☞요1:33 나는 그 분을 알지 못하였으나 나를 보내시어 물로 침례를 주라고 하신 그 분이 내게 말씀하시기를 '성령이 내려와 그 위에 머무는 것을 보리니, 그가 성령으로 침례를 주는 이라.'고 하시기에
And I knew him not： but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
☞요1:34 내가 보았고 이 분이 하나님의 아들이심을 증거하노라."고 하니라.
And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
☞요1:35 그 다음날 다시 요한이 자기 제자 두 사람과 함께 서 있다가
Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
☞요1:36 예수께서 거니시는 것을 보고 말하기를 "보라, 하나님의 어린 양이라."고 하니
And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
☞요1:37 두 제자가 그의 말하는 것을 듣고 예수를 따라가더라.
And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
☞요1:38 그때 예수께서 돌아서시어 그들이 따라오는 것을 보시고 그들에게 말씀하시기를 "너희가 무엇을 찾느냐?"고 하시니, 그들이 말씀드리기를 "랍비여, (랍비는 해석하면 선생이라.) 어디에 거하시니이까?"라고 하니
Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?
☞요1:39 주께서 그들에게 말씀하시기를 "와서, 보라."고 하시더라. 그들이 가서 주께서 거하시는 곳을 보고 그 날은 주와 함께 머물렀으니, 이는 그때가 제 십시쯤 되었음이라.
He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day： for it was about the tenth hour.
☞요1:40 요한의 말을 듣고 주를 따라간 두 사람 가운데 하나는 시몬 베드로의 형제 안드레였더라.
One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
☞요1:41 그가 먼저 그의 형제 시몬을 만나 말하기를 "우리가 메시아를 만났다."고 하니 그것을 해석하면 그리스도라.
He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
☞요1:42 그리하여 그가 시몬을 예수께 데려오니 예수께서 그를 보시고 말씀하시기를 "너는 요나의 아들 시몬이라. 너를 게바라 부르리라."하시니 그것을 해석하면 돌이라.
And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona： thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
☞요1:43 그 다음날 예수께서 갈릴리로 가고자 하시다가 빌립을 만나시니, 말씀하시기를 "나를 따라오라."고 하시더라.
The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.
☞요1:44 빌립은 안드레와 베드로의 성읍인 벳새다 출신이더라.
Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
☞요1:45 빌립이 나다나엘을 만나서 그에게 말하기를 "우리는 모세가 율법에 기록했고, 또 선지자들이 기록한 그 사람을 만났으니 요셉의 아들 나사렛 예수라." 하니
Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
☞요1:46 나다나엘이 그에게 말하기를 "나사렛에서 무슨 좋은 것이 나올 수 있느냐?"고 하니, 빌립이 그에게 말하기를 "와서 보라."고 하더라.
And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.
☞요1:47 예수께서 나다나엘이 자기에게로 오는 것을 보시고 그에 관하여 말씀하시기를 "보라, 참으로 이스라엘 사람이라. 그에게는 간사함이 없도다."라고 하시니
Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
☞요1:48 나다나엘이 주께 말씀드리기를 "주께서 언제부터 나를 아시나이까?"라고 하니, 예수께서 대답하여 말씀하시기를 "빌립이 너를 부르기 전 네가 무화과나무 아래 있었을 때 내가 너를 보았노라."고 하시니라.
Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
☞요1:49 나다나엘이 대답하여 주께 말씀드리기를 "랍비여, 주는 하나님의 아들이시요, 주는 이스라엘의 왕이시니이다!"라고 하더라.
Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
☞요1:50 예수께서 대답하여 그에게 말씀하시기를 "내가 너를 무화과나무 아래에서 보았다고 하니 네가 믿느냐? 네가 이보다 더 큰 일들을 보리라."고 하시고
Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
☞요1:51 또 그에게 말씀하시기를 "진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, 너희가 이 후로는 하늘이 열리고 하나님의 천사들이 인자 위에 오르내리는 것을 보리라."고 하시더라.
And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
