☞요16:1 내가 너희에게 이런 일들을 말함은 너희로 실족하지 않게 하려 함이라.
These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
☞요16:2 그들이 너희를 회당에서 출회할 것이라. 참으로 그 때가 오면 너희를 죽이는 자는 누구든지 하나님을 섬기노라고 생각하리라.
They shall put you out of the synagogues： yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
☞요16:3 또 그들이 이런 일들을 너희에게 행하리니, 이는 그들이 아버지도 모르며 나도 모르기 때문이라.
And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
☞요16:4 그러나 내가 이런 일들을 너희에게 말한 것은 그 때가 오면 내가 그런 일들에 대해 말했음을 너희로 기억나게 하려 함이라. 내가 처음부터 이런 일들을 너희에게 말하지 아니하였으니 이는 내가 너희와 함께 있었기 때문이라.
But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
☞요16:5 이제 나는 나를 보내신 분께로 내 길을 가노라. 그래도 너희 중 한 사람도 나에게 '어디로 가느냐?'고 묻는 사람이 없고
But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
☞요16:6 도리어 내가 이런 일을 너희에게 말하므로 슬픔이 너희 마음에 찼도다.
But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
☞요16:7 그러나 내가 진리를 너희에게 말하노니 내가 가는 것이 너희에게는 유익하니라. 만일 내가 가지 아니하면 위로자가 너희에게 오지 아니하시리라. 그러나 내가 떠나가면 내가 그 분을 너희에게 보낼 것이라.
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away： for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
☞요16:8 그 분이 오시면 죄에 대하여, 의에 대하여, 심판에 대하여 세상을 책망하시리라.
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment：
☞요16:9 죄에 대하여라 함은 그들이 나를 믿지 않기 때문이요
Of sin, because they believe not on me;
☞요16:10 의에 대하여라 함은 내가 내 아버지께 가므로 너희가 나를 다시는 보지 못하기 때문이며
Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
☞요16:11 또 심판에 대하여라 함은 이 세상의 통치자가 심판을 받기 때문이라.
Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
☞요16:12 내가 아직도 너희에게 말할 것들이 많이 있으나 지금은 너희가 그것들은 감당할 수 없느니라.
I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
☞요16:13 그러나 진리의 영이신 그 분이 오시면 너희를 모든 진리로 인도하시리라. 그 분은 스스로 말씀하지 아니하시며, 무엇이나 들은 것을 말씀하실 것이요, 또 너희에게 일어날 일들을 알려 주시리라.
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth： for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak： and he will shew you things to come.
☞요16:14 그 분이 나를 영화롭게 하시리니, 이는 그 분이 내 것을 받아서 너희에게 알려 주실 것임이라.
He shall glorify me： for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
☞요16:15 아버지께서 가지신 것은 모두 내 것이라. 그러므로 '그가 내 것을 가지고 너희에게 알릴 것이라.'고 내가 말하였노라.
All things that the Father hath are mine： therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
☞요16:16 잠시 후면 너희가 나를 보지 못할 것이요, 또 잠시 후면 너희가 나를 볼 것이라. 이는 내가 아버지께로 가기 때문이라."고 하시더라.
A little while, and ye shall not see me： and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
☞요16:17 그때 제자 중에 몇 사람이 서로 말하기를 "'잠시 후면 너희가 나를 보지 못할 것이요, 또 잠시 후면 나를 볼 것이라. 이는 내가 아버지께로 가기 때문이라.'고 주께서 우리에게 말씀하신 것이 무슨 뜻이냐?"고 하더라.
Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me： and again, a little while, and ye shall see me： and, Because I go to the Father?
☞요16:18 그러므로 그들이 말하기를 "'잠시 후면'이라고 말씀하신 것이 무슨 뜻이냐? 우리는 주께서 무엇을 말씀하시는지 모르겠노라." 하니
They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.
☞요16:19 그때 예수께서 그들이 자기에게 묻고자 하는 것을 아시고 그들에게 말씀하시기를 "내가 '잠시 후면 너희가 나를 보지 못할 것이요, 또 잠시 후면 너희가 나를 볼 것이라.'고 말한 이것에 관하여 서로 묻고 있느냐?
Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me： and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?
☞요16:20 진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, 너희는 울고 애통할 것이나 세상은 기뻐할 것이며, 너희는 슬퍼하겠으나 너희의 슬픔은 기쁨이 되리라.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice： and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
☞요16:21 여인이 해산할 때면 그 때가 다가오므로 근심하나 아이를 낳고 나면 사람이 세상에 태어난 기쁨 때문에 더이상 그 고통을 기억하지 아니하느니라.
A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come： but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
☞요16:22 그러므로 너희가 지금은 근심하여도 내가 다시 너희를 보리니, 그 때에는 너희 마음이 기쁠 것이며 아무도 그 기쁨을 너희에게서 빼앗지 못할 것이라.
And ye now therefore have sorrow： but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
☞요16:23 그 날에는 너희가 아무것도 나에게 묻지 아니하리라. 진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, 너희가 아버지께 내 이름으로 구하는 것은 무엇이나 너희에게 주시리라.
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
☞요16:24 지금까지는 너희가 내 이름으로 아무것도 구하지 아니하였으나 구하라. 그러면 받을 것이니 너희 기쁨이 충만케 하려 함이라.
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name： ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
☞요16:25 이런 일들은 내가 너희에게 비유로 말하였노라. 그러나 그 때가 오면 그때에는 더이상 비유로 말하지 아니하고 아버지에 관하여 분명히 알려 주리라.
These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs： but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
☞요16:26 그 날에는 너희가 내 이름으로 구하리니, 이는 내가 너희를 위하여 아버지께 기도하겠다는 말은 아니니라.
At that day ye shall ask in my name： and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you：
☞요16:27 아버지께서 친히 너희를 사랑하심이니 이는 너희가 나를 사랑하였고 또 내가 하나님께로부터 온 것을 믿었기 때문이라.
For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
☞요16:28 나는 아버지께로부터 나와서 세상으로 들어왔다가 다시 세상을 떠나 아버지께로 가노라."고 하시니라.
I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world： again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
☞요16:29 제자들이 주께 말씀드리기를 "보소서, 이제 주께서 분명히 말씀하시고 비유로 말씀하지 아니하시니
His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
☞요16:30 이제 우리는 주께서 모든 것들을 아시며 또 아무도 주께 물어야 할 필요가 없는 줄 아나이다. 이로써 우리는 주께서 하나님께로부터 오신 것을 믿나이다."라고 하더라.
Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee： by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
☞요16:31 예수께서 그들에게 대답하시기를 "너희가 이제야 믿느냐?
Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
☞요16:32 보라, 너희가 각자 자기 집으로 흩어지고 나를 혼자 남겨 놓을 그 때가 오나니, 실로 이미 왔노라. 그러나 나는 혼자 있지 아니하니, 이는 아버지께서 나와 함께 계심이라.
Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone： and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
☞요16:33 내가 이런 일들을 너희에게 말한 것은 너희가 내 안에서 화평을 지니게 하려 함이라. 세상에서는 너희가 환난을 당할 것이나 기운을 내라. 내가 세상을 이겼노라."고 하시니라.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation： but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
