☞롬4:1

그러면 우리의 조상 아브라함이 육신에 관하여 무엇을 얻었다고 말할 수 있으리요?

What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

☞롬4:2

만일 아브라함이 행위로써 의롭게 되었다면 그에게 자랑할 것이 있겠지만 하나님 앞에서는 없느니라.

For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

☞롬4:3

성경이 무엇이라고 말하고 있느냐? 아브라함이 하나님을 믿었더니 그것이 그에게 의로 여겨졌느니라.

For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

☞롬4:4

이제 일하는 사람에게는 그 보수를 은혜로 여기지 않고 빚으로 여기지만

Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

☞롬4:5

행함이 없어도 불경건한 자를 의롭다 하시는 그 분을 믿는 사람에게는 그의 믿음이 의로 여겨지느니라.

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

☞롬4:6

행함이 없어도 하나님께서 의롭다고 여기시는 사람의 복에 관하여 다윗도 말하였으니

Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

☞롬4:7

말하기를 "죄악들이 용서받고 죄들이 가리워진 사람들은 복이 있고

Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

☞롬4:8

주께서 죄를 인정하지 아니하실 사람은 복이 있도다."라고 하였느니라.

Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

☞롬4:9

그러면 이러한 복이 할례자에게만이냐? 아니면 무할례자에게도냐? 이는 우리가 말하기를 "아브라함에게는 믿음이 의로 여겨졌노라."고 했음니라.

Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

☞롬4:10

그렇다면 그것이 어떻게 여겨졌느냐? 그가 할례 때였느냐? 아니면 무할례 때였느냐? 할례 때가 아니라 무할례 때였느니라.

How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

☞롬4:11

그가 할례의 표적을 받은 것은 무할례 때에 믿음으로 된 의를 인친 것이니, 이는 할례를 받지 아니하고서 믿는 모든 자의 아비가 되게 하려 함이요, 그들도 의롭게 여김을 받게 하려 함이며,

And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised： that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also：

☞롬4:12

또 할례자의 아비이니, 할례받은 자들뿐만 아니라 우리의 아비 아브라함이 할례를 받지 아니하였을 때 가진 믿음의 발자취를 밟는 자들에게도니라.

And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

☞롬4:13

아브라함이 세상의 상속자가 되리라고 하신 약속은 아브라함이나 그의 씨에게 율법을 통하여 하신 것이 아니요, 믿음의 의를 통하여 하신 것이니라.

For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

☞롬4:14

만일 율법에 속한 자들이 상속자라면 믿음은 헛되고 그 약속은 무효가 되느니라.

For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect：

☞롬4:15

율법은 진노를 일으키나니 율법이 없는 곳에는 범법도 없느니라.

Because the law worketh wrath： for where no law is, there is no transgression.

☞롬4:16

그러므로 상속자가 되는 것이 은혜를 따라 되기 위해서는 믿음으로 되거니와 마침내 그 약속을 모든 씨에게 확고히 하려 함이며, 율법에 속한 자들뿐만 아니라 아브라함의 믿음에 속한 자들에게도니라. 그는 우리 모두의 아비라.

Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

☞롬4:17

(기록된 바와 같이 "내가 너를 많은 민족들의 아비가 되게 하였노라." 하였으니,) 그가 믿은 하나님, 곧 죽은 자들을 살리시며 없는 것을 있는 것처럼 부르시는 그 분 앞에서니라.

(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

☞롬4:18

그가 소망이 없는데도 소망 가운데서 믿었으니 "네 씨가 그렇게 되리라."고 말씀하신 대로 많은 민족들의 아비가 되게 하려 하심이라.

Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

☞롬4:19

그가 믿음이 약해지지 아니하여 백 살이 되고서도 자기 몸이 이제 죽은 것으로 생각지 아니하고, 또 사라의 태도 죽은 것으로 생각지 아니하였느니라.

And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb：

☞롬4:20

그는 믿음 없음으로 인하여 하나님의 약속을 의심하지 아니하였고 오히려 믿음에 견고하여져서 하나님께 영광을 돌리며

He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

☞롬4:21

약속하신 그것을 또한 이루실 것이라고 확신하였느니라.

And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

☞롬4:22

그러므로 그에게는 믿음이 의로 여겨졌느니라.

And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

☞롬4:23

이제 그에게 의로 여겨졌다고 기록된 것은 아브라함만을 위한 것이 아니요

Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
