☞전7:1 좋은 이름이 값진 향기름보다 낫고 죽는 날이 출생하는 날보다 낫도다.
A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.
☞전7:2 초상집에 가는 것이 잔치집에 가는 것보다 나으니, 이는 그것이 모든 사람의 마지막이며 살아 있는 사람이 그것을 자기 마음에 유념할 것이기 때문이라.
It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting： for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.
☞전7:3 슬픔이 웃음보다 나으니, 이는 슬픈 안색으로 인하여 마음이 더 나아짐이라.
Sorrow is better than laughter： for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.
☞전7:4 현명한 자의 마음은 초상집에 있으나 어리석은 자의 마음은 환락의 집에 있느니라.
The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.
☞전7:5 사람에게는 현명한 자의 책망을 듣는 것이 어리석은 자의 노래를 듣는 것보다 나으니라.
It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.
☞전7:6 어리석은 자의 웃음은 솥 밑의 가시나무 타는 소리 같으니 이것도 헛되도다.
For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool： this also is vanity.
☞전7:7 실로 압제는 현명한 사람을 미치게 만들고 뇌물은 마음을 파괴하느니라.
Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad; and a gift destroyeth the heart.
☞전7:8 일의 끝이 시작보다 나으며 영 안에서 인내하는 사람이 영 안에서 교만한 자보다 낫도다.
Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof： and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
☞전7:9 성내는 것을 영 안에서 서두르지 말지니, 이는 성내는 것이 어리석은 자의 품에 머무름이라.
Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry： for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.
☞전7:10 "옛날이 지금보다 나았던 이유가 무엇이냐?"고 너는 말하지 말라. 이는 네가 이 일에 관하여 현명하게 묻는 것이 아님이라.
Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.
☞전7:11 지혜는 유업과 함께하면 좋은 것이니, 그것으로 해를 보는 자들에게 유익이 있도다.
Wisdom is good with an inheritance： and by it there is profit to them that see the sun.
☞전7:12 지혜도 보호하는 것이 되고 돈도 보호하는 것이 되나, 지식의 월등함은 지혜니 그 지혜가 그것을 지닌 자들에게 생명을 주는 것이니라.
For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence： but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.
☞전7:13 하나님의 일을 생각해 보라. 그가 굽게 하신 것을 누가 곧게 할 수 있겠느냐?
Consider the work of God： for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked?
☞전7:14 번영의 날에는 기뻐하고 역경의 날에는 생각할지니, 하나님께서 이것과 저것을 병행하게 하셔서 사람으로 이후의 일들을 알 수 없게 하셨음이라.
In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider： God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.
☞전7:15 나의 헛된 날들에 내가 이 모든 일을 보니 자기의 의 가운데서 멸망하는 의인이 있고, 자기의 사악함 가운데서 생명을 연장하는 악인도 있느니라.
All things have I seen in the days of my vanity： there is a just man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his wickedness.
☞전7:16 지나치게 의인이 되지 말며 스스로 너무 현명하게도 되지 말라. 어찌하여 네가 스스로 패망해야겠느냐?
Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise： why shouldest thou destroy thyself ?
☞전7:17 지나치게 악인이 되지 말며 너는 어리석게도 되지 말라. 어찌하여 네가 너의 때가 되기 전에 죽어야겠느냐?
Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish： why shouldest thou die before thy time?
☞전7:18 너는 이것을 잡고 또 이것에서 손을 떼지 않는 것이 좋으니 이는 하나님을 두려워하는 자가 이 모든 일에서 빠져나올 것임이라.
It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this; yea, also from this withdraw not thine hand： for he that feareth God shall come forth of them all.
☞전7:19 지혜는 성읍 안에 있는 열 명의 용사들보다 현명한 사람을 능력있게 하느니라.
Wisdom strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty men which are in the city.
☞전7:20 선을 행하고 죄를 짓지 아니하는 의인은 땅 위에 한 명도 없느니라.
For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
☞전7:21 사람들이 하는 모든 말에 주의하지 말라. 네 종이 너를 저주하는 것을 네가 들을까 하노라.
Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee：
☞전7:22 너 자신도 자주 그와 같이 남을 저주했던 것을 네 마음이 아느니라.
For oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.
☞전7:23 내가 이 모든 것을 지혜로 입증하고 말하기를 "내가 현명하게 되리라" 하였으나, 그것은 나로부터 멀리 있었도다.
All this have I proved by wisdom： I said, I will be wise; but it was far from me.
☞전7:24 그것이 멀찍이 떨어져 있고 아주 깊이 있으니, 누가 그것을 찾아낼 수 있으리요?
That which is far off, and exceeding deep, who can find it out?
☞전7:25 내가 지혜와 사물의 근거를 알고 탐구하고 구하고자 내 마음을 썼으며, 또 어리석은 자의 사악함, 곧 어리석음과 미친 것을 알고자 하였도다.
I applied mine heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness：
☞전7:26 제 마음이 덫과 그물 같고 손은 포승줄 같은 여자는 죽음보다 더 쓴 것을 내가 알았노니, 누구든지 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 자는 그녀에게서 피할 것이라. 그러나 죄인은 그녀에게 붙들리리라.
And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands： whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her.
☞전7:27 보라, 전도자가 말하노라. 내가 그 이치를 찾아내려고 낱낱이 살펴 이것을 깨달았노라.
Behold, this have I found, saith the preacher, counting one by one, to find out the account：
☞전7:28 그러나 그것은 내 혼이 찾으나 얻지 못한 것이니, 내가 일천 명의 남자 중에서는 한 명을 얻어냈지만 모든 여자 중에서는 한 명도 얻지 못했느니라.
Which yet my soul seeketh, but I find not： one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found.
☞전7:29 보라, 이것이 내가 알아낸 유일한 것이니, 하나님께서는 사람을 정직하게 지으셨으나 사람들은 많은 계략들을 고안해 냈다는 것이라.
Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.
