☞히11:1 이제 믿음은 바라는 것들에 대한 실상이요 보이지 않는 것들에 대한 증거이니
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
☞히11:2 원로들이 이것으로써 좋은 평판을 얻었느니라.
For by it the elders obtained a good report.
☞히11:3 믿음으로 우리는 세상들이 하나님의 말씀으로 지어진 것을 깨닫나니 보이는 것들은 나타나는 것들로 된 것이 아니니라.
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
☞히11:4 믿음으로 아벨은 카인보다 더 나은 제사를 하나님께 드림으로써 의로운 자라고 증거를 받았으니, 하나님께서 그의 예물을 인정하심이라. 그가 죽었으나 믿음으로 아직 말하고 있느니라.
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts： and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
☞히11:5 믿음으로 에녹은 죽음을 보지 않고 옮겨졌으니, 하나님께서 그를 옮기셨으므로 다시 보이지 아니하니라. 그는 옮기우기 전에 하나님을 기쁘시게 하였다는 증거를 지녔느니라.
By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him： for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
☞히11:6 그러나 믿음이 없이는 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 없나니, 하나님께 나아가는 자는 그 분이 존재하시는 것과 그 분이 자기를 열심히 찾는 자들에게 보상하는 분이심을 마땅히 믿어야 하느니라.
But without faith it is impossible to please him： for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
☞히11:7 믿음으로 노아는 아직 보지 못한 일들에 대해 하나님의 경고하심을 받고 두려움으로 행하여 방주를 예비함으로 자기 집안을 구원하였으니, 그것을 통하여 세상을 정죄하고 믿음에 의한 의의 상속자가 되었느니라.
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
☞히11:8 믿음으로 아브라함은 장차 유업으로 받을 땅으로 떠나가라는 부름을 받았을 때 순종하여 어디로 가야 하는지도 모르면서 떠났으며
By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
☞히11:9 믿음으로 그는 타국 땅에 있는 것같이 약속의 땅에 기거하여 그와 함께 그 동일한 약속의 상속자들인 이삭과 야곱과 더불어 장막에서 살았느니라.
By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise：
☞히11:10 이는 그가 기초들이 있는 한 도성을 기다렸음이니 그것을 세우시고 만드신 분은 하나님이시니라.
For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
☞히11:11 사라 자신도 수태할 나이가 지났지만 믿음으로 씨를 잉태하는 힘을 받아 아이를 출산하였으니, 이는 약속하신 분이 신실하신 줄로 여김이라.
Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
☞히11:12 그러므로 죽은 자와 같이 된 한 사람으로 인하여 하늘의 수많은 별과 해변의 헤아릴 수 없는 모래와 같이 많은 사람이 생육하였느니라.
Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
☞히11:13 이들은 모두 믿음 안에서 죽었으나 모두가 그 약속들을 받은 것은 아니로되 멀리서 그것들을 보았고 확신하여 소중히 간직하였으며, 또 이 땅 위에서 타국인이요 순례자라고 고백하였느니라.
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
☞히11:14 그들이 이렇게 말함은 자신들의 본향을 찾고 있음을 분명히 나타낸 것이라.
For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
☞히11:15 만일 그들이 실로 떠나온 고향을 생각하였더라면 되돌아갈 기회가 있었겠지만
And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
☞히11:16 이제 그들이 사모하는 곳은 더 좋은 본향, 곧 하늘에 있는 것이라. 그러므로 하나님께서는 그들의 하나님이라 불리우는 것을 부끄러워하지 아니하시니 이는 그들을 위하여 한 도성을 예비하셨음이라.
But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly： wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God： for he hath prepared for them a city.
☞히11:17 믿음으로 아브라함은 시험을 받을 때 이삭을 제물로 드렸으니, 그 약속들을 받은 자가 그의 독생자를 드린 것이라.
By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac： and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
☞히11:18 그에 관하여 말씀하시기를 "네 씨라 불리울 자는 이삭에게서 난 자라."고 하셨으니
Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called：
☞히11:19 그는 하나님께서 죽은 자들로부터 그를 다시 살리실 수 있으리라고 생각하였음이라. 이로써 그는 모형으로 그를 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 받은 것이니라.
Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
☞히11:20 믿음으로 이삭은 장차 있을 일들에 대하여 야곱과 에서에게 축복하였고
By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
☞히11:21 믿음으로 야곱은 죽을 때에 요셉의 두 아들 하나 하나에게 축복하였으며 그의 지팡이 머리에 의지하여 경배드렸느니라.
By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff.
☞히11:22 믿음으로 요셉은 임종시에 이스라엘 자손이 떠날 것에 관하여 말하였고 또 자기 유골에 관하여 명하였느니라.
By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.
☞히11:23 믿음으로, 모세는 태어났을 때에 출중한 아이로 보였기에, 그의 부모가 삼 개월 동안 숨겼으니, 이는 그들이 왕의 명령을 두려워하지 않았기 때문이며
By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.
☞히11:24 믿음으로 모세는 장성하여 파라오의 딸의 아들이라 칭함을 거절하고
By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
☞히11:25 잠시 동안 죄의 낙을 누리는 것보다 오히려 하나님의 백성과 함께 고난받는 것을 택하였고
Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
☞히11:26 그리스도의 능욕을 이집트의 보화들보다 더 큰 재물로 여겼으니 이는 그가 상 주심을 바라보았음이라.
Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt： for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
☞히11:27 믿음으로 그는 왕의 노여움을 두려워하지 않고 이집트를 떠났으니 이는 그가 보이지 않는 분을 보는 것처럼 견디었기 때문이라.
By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king： for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
☞히11:28 믿음으로 그가 유월절과 피 뿌리는 예를 지켰으니, 이는 첫 태생을 멸하는 이가 그들을 손대지 못하게 하려 한 것이라.
Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
☞히11:29 믿음으로 그들은 마른 땅을 가듯이 홍해를 통과하였으나 이집트인들은 그렇게 해 보려고 시도하다가 물에 빠져 죽었느니라.
By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land： which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.
☞히11:30 믿음으로 그들이 칠 일 동안을 돌았더니 여리코의 성벽이 무너졌느니라.
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.
☞히11:31 믿음으로 창녀 라합은 정탐꾼들을 평안히 영접함으로 믿지 아니한 자들과 더불어 멸망하지 아니하였도다.
By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
☞히11:32 내가 무슨 말을 더 하리요? 기드온, 바락, 삼손, 입다, 다윗, 또한 사무엘과 선지자들에 관하여 말하려면 내게 시간이 부족하리라.
And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets：
☞히11:33 그들은 믿음을 통하여 왕국들을 정복하기도 하고 의를 이루기도 하며, 약속들을 받기도 하고 사자들의 입을 막기도 하며
Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.
☞히11:34 불의 세력을 소멸시키기도 하고 칼날을 피하기도 하며, 연약함 중에 강하게 되기도 하고 전쟁에서 용맹스럽게 되기도 하며, 외적들을 패주시키기도 하며
Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
☞히11:35 여자들은 그들의 죽은 자들을 다시 살려 받기도 하고 어떤 사람들은 고문을 당하면서도 굳이 면하려 하지 않았으니, 이는 그들이 더 좋은 부활을 얻고자 함이라.
Women received their dead raised to life again： and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection：
☞히11:36 또 어떤 사람들은 잔혹한 조롱과 채찍질의 시련도 받았고, 더욱이 결박당하고 감옥에도 갇혔으며
And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment：
☞히11:37 돌로 맞고, 톱으로 켜지고, 시험을 당하고, 칼로 살해되었으며, 양의 가죽과 염소의 가죽을 쓴 채 유리하며 궁핍과 고난과 학대를 당했느니라.
They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword： they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
☞히11:38 (세상은 그들이 살 만한 데가 못되었으므로) 그들은 광야와 산속과 동굴과 토굴에서 유리하였느니라.
(Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
☞히11:39 이 사람들이 모두 믿음을 통하여 좋은 평판을 얻었으나 그 약속을 받지는 못하였으니
And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise：
☞히11:40 하나님께서는 우리를 위하여 어떤 더 좋은 것을 예비하사 우리가 아니고서는 그들이 온전케 되지 못하게 하셨느니라.
God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
