☞벧전4:1 그리스도께서 그때 우리를 위하여 육체로 고난을 받으셨으니 너희도 같은 생각으로 무장하라. 이는 육체로 고난을 받은 자는 죄로부터 단절되었음이니
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind： for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
☞벧전4:2 이는 그가 육체 안에서 자기의 남은 때를 더이상 사람의 정욕을 따라 살지 않고 하나님의 뜻을 따라 살려 함이라.
That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
☞벧전4:3 우리가 음란과 정욕과 술취함과 방탕과 연락과 혐오스런 우상 숭배를 행하여 이방인들의 뜻을 행한 것은 지난 날의 생활로 충분하도다.
For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries：
☞벧전4:4 이방인들은 너희가 그들과 함께 같은 방탕에 휩쓸리지 않는 것을 이상하게 생각하고 너희를 비방하나
Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you：
☞벧전4:5 그들은 산 자들과 죽은 자들을 심판하시게 될 그 분께 설명하게 되리라.
Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
☞벧전4:6 이런 연유로 죽은 자들에게도 복음이 전파되었으니 이는 육체로는 사람과 일치하여 심판을 받으나 영으로는 하나님과 일치하여 살게 하려 함이니라.
For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
☞벧전4:7 만물의 마지막이 가까웠으니 그러므로 너희는 정신을 차리고 깨어 기도하라.
But the end of all things is at hand： be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
☞벧전4:8 무엇보다 서로 뜨겁게 사랑하라. 이는 사랑이 허다한 죄들을 덮기 때문이니라.
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves： for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
☞벧전4:9 불평하지 말고 서로 대접하며
Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
☞벧전4:10 각 사람이 받은 은사 대로 하나님의 다양한 은혜를 맡은 선한 청지기같이 서로 섬기라.
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
☞벧전4:11 만일 누가 말하려거든 하나님의 말씀처럼 말하고, 또 누가 섬기려거든 하나님께서 공급하시는 능력으로 하는 것처럼 하라. 이는 모든 일에 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님께서 영광을 받으시게 하려 함이니, 그 분께 찬양과 권세가 영원 무궁토록 있느니라. 아멘.
If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth： that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
☞벧전4:12 사랑하는 자들아, 너희를 연단시키려는 불 같은 시련에 관하여 너희에게 어떤 이상한 일이 일어나는 것처럼 이상하게 여기지 말고
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you：
☞벧전4:13 도리어 너희가 그리스도의 고난에 참여하는 자들이 되는 것이니 즐거워하라. 이는 그의 영광이 나타나실 때에 너희도 큰 기쁨으로 즐거워하게 하려 함이니라.
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
☞벧전4:14 너희가 그리스도의 이름을 위하여 욕을 당하면 복이 있느니라. 이는 영광의 영 곧 하나님의 영께서 너희 위에서 안식하고 계시기 때문이니라. 그들의 편에서는 그 분께서 비방을 당하시나 너희의 편에서는 영광을 받으시느니라.
If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you： on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
☞벧전4:15 너희 중에 누구도 살인자나 도둑이나 행악자나 다른 사람들의 일에 간섭하는 자처럼 고난을 당하지 않게 하라.
But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.
☞벧전4:16 그러나 만일 너희가 그리스도인으로서 고난을 당하면 부끄러워하지 말고 오히려 그 일로 인하여 하나님께 영광을 돌리라.
Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
☞벧전4:17 이는 하나님의 집에서 심판을 시작해야 할 때가 되었음이니 만일 그 심판이 우리에게서부터 먼저 시작되면 하나님의 복음에 순종하지 않는 자들의 그 종말은 어떠하겠느냐?
For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God： and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
☞벧전4:18 만일 의인들이 겨우 구원을 받는다면 경건치 못한 자들과 그 죄인은 어디에 나타나겠느냐?
And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
☞벧전4:19 그러므로 하나님의 뜻에 따라 고난을 받는 사람들은 선을 행하면서, 신실하신 창조주께 그들의 혼을 지키시도록 맡길지어다.
Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
