| ☞약3:1 | 나의 형제들아, 너희는 많은 선생들이 되지 말라. 이는 우리가 더 큰 정죄를 받을 줄 앎이니라. My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. | |||
| ☞약3:2 | 우리 모두는 많은 일에 실수 하나니, 만일 말에 실수가 없는 사람이 있다면 그 사람은 온전한 사람이며 온 몸도 제어할 수 있느니라. For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. | |||
| ☞약3:3 | 보라, 우리가 말들을 복종하게 하려고 그 입에 재갈을 물려 그것들의 온 몸을 제어하느니라. Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. | |||
| ☞약3:4 | 또한 배들을 보라. 그렇게 크고, 거친 바람에 밀려 가도 지극히 작은 키로 키잡이가 원하는 곳 어디로도 돌려지느니라. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. | |||
| ☞약3:5 | 이와 같이 혀도 작은 지체지만 큰 일들을 자랑하느니라. 보라, 작은 불이 얼마나 큰 것을 태우는가! Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! | |||
| ☞약3:6 | 혀는 불이요, 죄악의 세상이라. 그러므로 혀는 우리 지체들 가운데 있으면서 온 몸을 더럽히며 또 일생을 불태워 버리나니 곧 지옥의 불에서 태우느니라. And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity： so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. | |||
| ☞약3:7 | 모든 종류의 짐승들과 새들, 뱀들, 바다 속에 있는 것들은 사람에 의해 길들여지며 또 길들여져 왔으나 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind： | |||
| ☞약3:8 | 혀를 길들일 수 있는 사람은 아무도 없나니 억제할 수 없는 악이요, 죽이는 독이 가득하도다. But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. | |||
| ☞약3:9 | 그것으로 우리가 하나님이신 아버지를 송축하고, 또 그것으로 우리가 하나님의 모습대로 만들어진 사람을 저주하느니라. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. | |||
| ☞약3:10 | 같은 입에서 축복과 저주가 나오는도다. 나의 형제들아, 이렇게 되어서는 아니되느니라. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. | |||
| ☞약3:11 | 샘이 같은 곳에서 단물과 쓴물을 낼 수 있느냐? Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? | |||
| ☞약3:12 | 나의 형제들아, 무화과나무가 올리브 열매를, 포도나무가 무화과를 맺을 수 있겠느냐? 그와 같이 짠물과 단물을 다 내는 샘은 없느니라. Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. | |||
| ☞약3:13 | 너희 가운데 현명하고 지식을 갖춘 자가 누구냐? 그는 선한 행실을 통하여 지혜의 온유함으로 자신의 행함을 나타내 보일지니라. Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. | |||
| ☞약3:14 | 만일 너희 마음 속에 독한 시기와 다툼이 있으면 자랑하지 말며, 진리를 거슬러 거짓말하지 말라. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. | |||
| ☞약3:15 | 이러한 지혜는 위로부터 내려오는 것이 아니라 땅에 속한 것이요, 정욕적이며 마귀적인 것이니라. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. | |||
| ☞약3:16 | 이는 시기와 다툼이 있는 곳에는 혼란과 온갖 악한 일이 있기 때문이라. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. | |||
| ☞약3:17 | 그러나 위로부터 오는 지혜는 첫째, 순수하고 그 다음은 화평하며, 친절하고, 양순하며, 자비와 선한 열매들로 가득하고, 편견이 없고, 위선이 없나니 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. | |||
| ☞약3:18 | 의의 열매는 화평케 하는 자들의 화평 안에 뿌려진 것이니라. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. | |||
